Osayi Emokpae Lasisi is the co-founder of Pocketlings, a joyful, representation-first doll and book brand created alongside her daughter Olamide to celebrate Black children, culture, and confidence. When Olamide could not find cute plush dolls that looked like her, she decided to design her own. Together, this mother-daughter team brought Pocketlings to life through a successful Kickstarter campaign, creating The Abundance Collection featuring dolls named Oladapo, Olabisi, and Olayemi, each representing wealth, abundance, and self-worth.
Originally from Nigeria, Osayi brings a unique cultural perspective to her work. Having moved from Nigeria to North America, she understands the challenges of raising children across cultures while staying rooted in African values and traditions. This lived experience shapes everything Pocketlings creates, from affirmation-filled children's books to plush dolls designed so Black children can grow up feeling seen, celebrated, and powerful.
Beyond Pocketlings, Osayi is a certified parenting coach through the Jai Institute for Parenting and the creator of the Connect to Influence parenting method, which integrates the latest parenting research with elements of African history and culture. Her coaching explores emotional intelligence, conscious communication, and attachment theory, all tailored to help parents understand how their cultural background can profoundly shape their child's development.
Osayi is also a published author of several books including Impossible is Stupid, Because You Deserve Love, and Billionaire Mindset for MoneyMaking Mommies. A recovering U.S. attorney turned entrepreneur, she has led marketing and demand generation at technology companies and served as HR Director at organizations with over 3,000 staff members. She is the creator of Happy People Happy Profit and host of the MoneyMaking at Home podcast.
As the host of the Pocketlings Parenting Virtual Summit, Osayi brings together her passion for cultural representation, parenting expertise, and entrepreneurial spirit to create a space where parents can learn, connect, and build confidence in raising the next generation.
